Saturday   between 10:00 and 20:00
Sunday between 10:00 and 20:00

The Benefit for You

It is a simple appointment booking process, over the phone or in person.

You can have a consultation at a time that is convenient to you.

You should experience a high quality consultation because although the extended access GP is not your GP the GP will have full access to your GP medical record.

Out of Hours is defined as all times after 6.30 pm and before 8.00 am on weekdays, over weekends and during bank holidays.

Prior to 15th November 2004, the Practice was responsible for providing health care to patients registered with the practice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, on that day the new GP contract transferred responsibility for the out of hours care to Knowsley Primary Care Trusts. On 1/04/13 this responsibility passed to Knowsley CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) when it replaced the PCT. The CCG uses NHS 111 as a point of contact for out of hours calls and provides walk in centres as detailed below:

NHS 111
If you think your problem is a medical emergency please dial 999.

NHS 111 is now the point of contact for all non emergency out of hours queries.  It replaced the previousl available NHS Direct and the CCG's Urgent Care 24 in October 2015. You can contact NHS 111 at any time, it is available in hours as well as out of hours.

NHS 111 can be accessed by dialling 111 from any phone. Calls from landlines and mobiles are free 24 hours a day.

You should use the NHS 111 service if:
you need medical help fast, but it is not a 999 emergency
you think you need to go to A&E or Emergency Department or another NHS urgent care service
you dont know who to call for medical help
you require health information or reassurance of what to do next

You will get you through to a team of highly trained advisors who are supported by experienced nurses. They will assess your symptoms, give you health care advice if you need it or book you an appointment.

Dental Problems
For Out of Hours Dental Problems, you should contact your dentist or NHS 111.

If you need to see a Doctor but are housebound, you may request a home visit by telephone or by sending a fully informed messenger to the surgery.

Requests for home visits for both urgent and non-urgent problems should be made before 10.00 am (wherever possible).

Requests for home visits for urgent problems that arise after 10.00 am should be made as early as possible to avoid delay.

Requests for home visits will not be unreasonably refused but it may not always be possible for the Doctor of your choice to attend personally.

Please don't e-mail or fax requests for home visits as we can't guarantee to receive your request in time to respond safely.

Please note that the doctors can see four or five patients at the Surgery in the time it takes for them to undertake one home visit. Therefore, in line with nationally accepted standards of excellence, home visits are only available to you when it is otherwise not possible for you to get yourself to the Surgery due to illness or disability. Requests for home visits will not be accepted purely for reasons of social convenience.
